Mayor Inderjit Kaur, MLA Bagga and MC Commissioner Dachalwal issue strict warning to contractor firm; ensure proper working of STPs or face penalty
For ensuring proper functioning of sewer treatment plants (STP) in the city, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, Ludhiana North MLA Madan Lal Bagga and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal conducted a meeting with the officials of sewerage board, contractor firm (Khilari Infrastructure Private Limited) and civic body at MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Tuesday.

Ludhiana, July 22, 2025: For ensuring proper functioning of sewer treatment plants (STP) in the city, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, Ludhiana North MLA Madan Lal Bagga and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal conducted a meeting with the officials of sewerage board, contractor firm (Khilari Infrastructure Private Limited) and civic body at MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Tuesday.
As the contractor firm has been operating the STPs in the city, strict warning has been issued to ensure that the plants should function properly otherwise strict action would be taken against them including imposition of penalty. There are three STP sites in the city including Jamalpur, Balloke and Bhattian.
Chief Engineer Ravinder Garg, SE Parul Goyal, Executive Engineer Ekjot Singh and officials of the contractor firm were present in the meeting.
The officials stated that it has been observed that the STPs were not being run properly in the past, due to which water accumulation is witnessed in different areas of the city.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur, MLA Bagga and MC Commissioner Dachalwal stated that they had also inspected the Balloke STP in the recent past and anomalies were found at the site. Now strict warning has been issued to the contractor firm to run the STPs properly otherwise strict action would be taken against them including imposition of penalty.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur, MLA Bagga and MC Commissioner Dachalwal said that they are regularly monitoring the situation and inspections would again be carried out in the coming time.
