Ludhiana, December 1, 2025: To commemorate World AIDS Day, the Departments of Community Medicine and Microbiology jointly organized a collective awareness celebration at DMC&H College Campus and Urban Health Centre Pohir.
The event included a Poster Making Competition for medical and paramedical students, along with an awareness talk at the Urban Health Centre, Shimla Puri, focusing on prevention, early diagnosis, and breaking the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS. Interactive talks and case-based sessions were also held to help students better understand how HIV spreads, how it can be prevented, and the basic treatment guidelines.
In his message, Sh. Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, emphasized that awareness is the first step towards prevention. At DMC&H, we remain dedicated to educating communities and empowering them with the right knowledge to fight HIV/AIDS.
Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H conveyed the message to students to commit themselves towards achieving the goal of ending AIDS.
Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics, DMC&H stressed the critical importance of effective AIDS prevention strategies.
Dr. Anurag Chaudhary, Professor & Head, Community Medicine unfolded the Theme: “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response.”People living with HIV/AIDs are part of community but they are living in silence fearing stigma. It is important to reach out to them and to prevent stigmatization by increasing awareness in general public
Dr. Veenu Gupta, Professor & Head, Microbiology said that
accurate diagnosis and timely guidance are key to effective HIV management. Awareness empowers individuals to seek help confidently and without stigma.
Winners of the poster and slogan writing competition were awarded with prizes, motivating students to continue contributing to community health and awareness.
