A workshop on “The essence of communication and documentation in patient care” was organized by DMCH, College of Nursing, and M.Sc. (N) 2nd year students today.

Ludhiana, May 28, 2022: A workshop on “The essence of communication and documentation in patient care” was organized by DMCH, College of Nursing, and M.Sc. (N) 2nd year students under the able guidance of Dr.Triza Jiwan, Principal, CON and Prof.Sandeep Kaur, HOD of Community Health Nursing Department and Shailza Sharma, Associate Professor on Saturday.

Secretary, DMCH Managing Society, Prem Kumar Gupta were the chief Guest and Dr.Ashwani Chaudhary, Medical Superintendent, DMCH, were the Guest of Honor.

The programme was inaugurated with lamp lightening ceremony. All the delegates and participants were welcomed by Shailza Sharma.  Unfolding of theme was done by Prof.Sandeep Kaur. 

Prem Kumar Gupta motivated the participants through his inspirational talk. He also emphasized the need of such workshops for updating knowledge of students and nurses on effective communication.

Dr.Ashwani Chaudhary emphasized the importance of effective communication and documentation in nursing. He added that this workshop is intended to help nurses to become better in their patient care related communication.

Prof.Nidhi Sagar, Vice Principal, DMCH College of Nursing and Navpreet, Deputy Nursing Superintendent, DMCH also graced the occasion with their presence.   

Dr.Triza Jiwan said that clear communication is imperative in the health care environment and occurs between different individuals everyday by verbal, non-verbal and written modes. It is important that effective communication is maintained to develop trust between healthcare providers and their patients.

Various lectures on topics like therapeutic communication, documenting patient records were delivered.  A role play was performed by B.Sc (N) Students. The day was concluded by valedictory session. All the participants were awarded with certificates.
