DMCH College of Nursing conducts ‘awareness and screening camp’ 

Ludhiana: DMCH College of Nursing, Ludhiana organized ‘Awareness and Screening Camp’ for women of Malakpur village to self-examine their breasts for any abnormality and reducing the chances of getting breast cancer in its advanced stage
The camp was held under the guidance of Principal Dr Mrs. Triza Jiwan, who emphasized the women to be aware of their overall health. Self-examining of breasts at regular intervals is an important screening tool for women to keep minimum chances of getting affected by breast cancer, said Dr Triza Jiwan.
Mrs. Nidhi Sagar (HOD, Obstetric and Gynecological Nursing) said a Breast self-examination (BSE) is a useful and important screening tool to detect any abnormality and recommended that all women routinely perform breast self-exams as part of their overall breast cancer screening strategy.
The steps elaborated while doing self-examination of breasts include:   
Step 1: Lie down on your back with a pillow under your right shoulder. Use the pads of the three middle fingers on your left hand to check your right breast. and vice-versa .
Step 2: In Front of the Mirror. Look for any changes from normal. Inspect your breasts in four steps:
•         Hold arms at your side
•         Hold arms over your head
•         Press your hands on your hips and tighten your chest muscles
•         Bend forward with your hands on your hips
