DMC&H Celebrates Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Programme
DMC&H Management and Gynaecology Team Launch Sanitary Pad Vending Machine to Empower Women on Menstrual Health.

Ludhiana, June 3, 2025: As a significant step towards promoting women’s health and hygiene, DMC&H organized a “Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Programme” on May 30th in the hospital premises. The 28th of May is globally recognized as International Menstrual Hygiene Day, with the theme for this year’s Menstrual Hygiene Day as “Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld.”

The event was graced by various dignitaries of DMC&H management –Bipin Gupta, Mukesh Verma, Dr. G.S. Wander, Dr. Sandeep Sharma, and FICCI FLO members. The event was organized by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and witnessed enthusiastic participation from various departments of the hospital including nursing staff, nursing students, the department of dietetics, and other staff members from all areas of the hospital. Local community members and our doctors highlighted the growing awareness around menstrual health and its impact on overall well-being.

The Inauguration was honoured by Bipin Gupta, Secretary, Managing Society, DMC&H with the release of an Education Guide designed to empower women with accessible information on menstrual health. In another impactful move, a Sanitary Pad Vending Machine was also launched by Bipin Gupta, installed in the outpatient department, ensuring convenient access to menstrual hygiene products within hospital premises thus reaffirming their commitment to gender-sensitive healthcare and equitable access to hygiene facilities; hence starting with empowering working women within campus and hospital premises.

Dr. G.S. Wander highlighted that this initiative is a part of the hospital’s broader vision and mission to support preventive healthcare and women’s empowerment through education, innovation, and community engagement.

Dr. Ashima Taneja emphasized that Good health begins with education and access. By combining awareness programs with practical solutions like vending machines and informative guides, we aim to break the stigma and promote healthier lives for all women,”.

The workshop also aimed to educate women and adolescent girls on the importance of menstrual hygiene management, debunking myths, introducing and promoting multiple menstrual products, and encouraging safe practices. Multiple interactive sessions were conducted by expert gynecologists and health educators covering topics such as menstrual cycle, hygiene products and when to seek medical help.
