DMC&H awarded “Angles Gold Status Award 2023 “ for quality stroke care

Ludhiana, October 26, 2023: Department of Neurology, DMC&H, will observe “Stroke Awareness Week” from October 26-31st, on the occasion of World Stroke Day. The inaugural event was held today, where an awareness lecture was organised for the general public on the hospital premises.

During the event, DMC&H was  awarded the “Angles Gold Status Award 2023 “by Angles Initiative, a subsidiary of the World Stroke Organisation, for its contribution and commitment towards quality stroke care.


Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, congratulated the Neurology Department for their achievement.


Dr. Sandeep Puri,Principal, DMC&H, said that DMC&H has the latest techniques and insights and has been at the forefront of providing the best possible stroke care services. One of its latest addition is a one-of-a kind Monoplane Neuro Cath lab, which is proving to be a boon for all the patients suffering from stroke.


Dr. Gagandeep Singh, Head, Dept. of Neurology, said that when a person is identified as having a stroke, the immediate response should be to bring them to the hospital, where they can be given immediate treatment to ensure full recovery.


Dr. Dhananjay Gupta, Assistant Professor, Neurology, said that even within 24 hours, we have a window to perform minimally invasive surgery and remove the brain clots or do stunting for brain arteries to ensure minimal damage to the brain.


Stroke survivors were also felicitated, and they shared their story with the public to make them aware of the benefits of promptness of response when someone in their family gets a stroke.
