DM imposes 48-Hour ban on gatherings of more than five people from June 17 to June 19

Exercising the power conferred upon by Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), District Magistrate Himanshu Jain on Monday restricted the meeting of more than five people for period of 48 hours from June 17 ( 06:00 PM) till conclusion of poll on June 19 (06:00 PM) in Jurisdiction of Ludhiana West assembly constituency.

Ludhiana, June 16, 2025: Exercising the power conferred upon by Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), District Magistrate Himanshu Jain on Monday restricted the meeting of more than five people for period of 48 hours from June 17 ( 06:00 PM) till conclusion of poll on June 19 (06:00 PM) in Jurisdiction of Ludhiana West assembly constituency. 


Following the directions issued by the Election Commission of India, Jain stated that  it is necessary to ban assemblies and holding public meetings during the period of 48 hours on June 17 (06:00 PM) till conclusion of poll on June 19 (06:00 PM) in Jurisdiction of Ludhiana West assembly constituency under section 126 of Representation of People Act 1951.

Further, it is clarified that this does not restrict house-to-house visits during 48 hours in connection door-to-door campaigning with a restricted group of four persons only. It is also clarified that all the political leaders, functionaries or Party workers who are not the registered voters of Ludhiana West assembly constituency will have to vacate the constituency by June 17 from 06:00 PM.
