New Delhi, January 2, 2026: The first day of “Delhi Shabdotsav 2026” witnessed an inspiring cultural showcase by students of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak; who captivated audiences at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi, with their artistic excellence and creative energy.

The three-day festival opened with a powerful Nritya Natika titled “Dada Dahiya ka Balidan”, performed by DLC SUPVA students before a packed audience. The emotionally charged presentation, rooted in history and sacrifice, received thunderous applause and set the tone for the day’s celebrations.

Following the opening act, 20 students presented solo and duet dance performances drawing from Haryanvi folk traditions, contemporary dance forms, and fusion styles, reflecting the varrsity’s diverse artistic training. Students from the Sculpture Department actively engaged visitors by teaching the basics of clay modeling and showcasing handcrafted artifacts, drawing significant interest from festival attendees.

In addition, short films, original songs, and the university’s Kulgeet were screened for the audience, highlighting DLC SUPVA’s multidisciplinary approach to arts education. The university’s student volunteers are also playing a crucial role in managing the central help desk of the festival, contributing to the smooth execution of the event.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya is accompanying the group, personally encouraging students and interacting with festival visitors. He said, “The participation of our students at Delhi Shabdotsav reflects the core philosophy of DLC SUPVA. Seeing our students perform, engage with the public, and contribute to the smooth conduct of such a large national festival reaffirms our commitment to nurturing confident, socially aware, and culturally grounded artists. Platforms like Shabdotsav allow our students to experience the true spirit of Bharat while presenting their talent on a national stage.”

A contingent of 90 members, including 20 student volunteers and 15 faculty and staff members, is participating in Shabdotsav from January 2 to 4.

The students also had the opportunity to interact with Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, who met the DLC SUPVA contingent, learned about the university’s unique academic programmes and training methodologies, and engaged informally with the students. She also participated in creative activities, including painting, and took selfies with them.

Kapil Mishra, Cabinet Minister (Art, Culture and Languages), Government of NCT of Delhi, also met the students and appreciated their performances and participation.
