DLC SUPVA Observes 164th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and Swadeshi Sankalp Diwas; Lohri Celebrations lit up the day

Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak today observed the 164th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, which also coincided with Swadeshi Sankalp Diwas, through a series of academic, cultural, and community-oriented activities aimed at reinforcing national values, indigenous knowledge systems, and holistic education.

Rohtak, January 13, 2026: Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak today observed the 164th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, which also coincided with Swadeshi Sankalp Diwas, through a series of academic, cultural, and community-oriented activities aimed at reinforcing national values, indigenous knowledge systems, and holistic education.

The day began with a Community Run, led by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya, from the varsity’s main gate to Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, with active participation from students, faculty, and staff. The run symbolised collective commitment to the ideals of youth empowerment, discipline, and national consciousness espoused by Swami Vivekananda.

As part of the academic observance, a special lecture was delivered by Dr. Abhishek Tandon, Joint Chief Executive Officer, Udhmodya Foundation, and Associate Professor in the Department of Operational Research, DU. Addressing students, faculty, and staff, Dr. Tandon reflected on the life and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, highlighting his vision for a self-reliant, spiritually grounded, and intellectually awakened India.

He emphasised the relevance of Swadeshi values in contemporary education, particularly their integration within the framework of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He also spoke in detail about the Indian Knowledge System, underlining the need to reconnect education with indigenous wisdom, ethical frameworks, and locally rooted innovation.

The day concluded with grand Lohri celebrations held at the Vice-Chancellor’s office lawns, where students, faculty, and staff gathered around a traditional bonfire and participated in music and dance, celebrating unity, cultural continuity, and collective joy.

Reflecting on the significance of the day, VC Dr. Amit Arya said, “Swami Vivekananda’s ideas continue to inspire generations to combine knowledge with service and self-belief. Observing his birth anniversary alongside Swadeshi Sankalp Diwas reminds us of our responsibility to build an education system that is self-reliant, value-driven, and culturally rooted. At DLC SUPVA, we strive to nurture creative professionals who are not only skilled but also deeply connected to India’s intellectual and cultural heritage.”

Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha said, “The observance reaffirmed DLC SUPVA’s commitment to integrating academic excellence, community engagement, and cultural values, in alignment with national educational priorities and the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
