In a major push towards strengthening grassroots and competitive sports, the District Administration Ludhiana has undertaken a comprehensive sports infrastructure development programme across the district. The initiative aims to provide modern, athlete-centric facilities that nurture talent, improve training conditions, and promote a strong sporting culture.
Ludhiana, January 5, 2026: In a major push towards strengthening grassroots and competitive sports, the District Administration Ludhiana has undertaken a comprehensive sports infrastructure development programme across the district. The initiative aims to provide modern, athlete-centric facilities that nurture talent, improve training conditions, and promote a strong sporting culture.
As part of this programme, the District Administration is implementing multiple high-impact projects:
- Development of a state-of-the-art Indoor Volleyball Hall at SCD Government College, designed to meet modern playing standards and enable year-round training and competitions.
- Construction of a Synthetic Lawn Tennis Ground at SCD Government College, providing all-weather playing conditions and supporting the growth of tennis at district and state levels.
- Renovation and upgradation of Shastri Badminton Hall, including improvement of courts and supporting infrastructure to enhance player performance and safety.
- Renovation of the Basketball Hostel, aimed at improving residential facilities for sportspersons and ensuring a conducive environment for training and recovery.
- Renovation and infrastructure improvement of Guru Nanak Stadium, one of the district’s key sporting venues, to better support athletics and multi-sport activities.
The projects are being implemented in a phased and time-bound manner, with a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and optimal utilization of public resources. The initiative reflects the District Administration’s commitment to long-term sports development and athlete welfare.
Officials of the District Administration stated that these projects will significantly enhance Ludhiana’s capacity to train athletes, host competitions, and contribute to Punjab’s sporting excellence at state and national levels.
