District Administration Intensifies Efforts to Ensure Clean & Adequate Drinking Water; Strong Push for Drainage & Sanitation Ahead of Monsoon: DC Sachin Gupta
The District Administration, Rohtak, has launched an intensive, multi-departmental drive to ensure clean and adequate drinking water supply, efficient storm water drainage, and improved urban sanitation ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
Rohtak, April 25, 2026: The District Administration, Rohtak, has launched an intensive, multi-departmental drive to ensure clean and adequate drinking water supply, efficient storm water drainage, and improved urban sanitation ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta reiterated that ensuring uninterrupted potable water and preventing urban waterlogging remain top administrative priorities, and all departments have been directed to complete critical works within defined timelines.
Time-Bound Monsoon Preparedness
The Deputy Commissioner has directed that:
* All drains and nallahs must be cleaned before May 31, 2026
* Drainage systems must be fully functional to prevent waterlogging
* Inter-departmental coordination must ensure seamless water discharge
Field inspections were conducted across multiple locations to review on-ground progress and identify bottlenecks.
Major Infrastructure Push
Significant infrastructure projects are being implemented to strengthen water supply and drainage:
* ₹16.5 crore project approved for laying ~45 km drinking water pipelines
* Replacement of damaged pipelines and expansion of network
* Construction of a new water storage structure worth ₹27 crore to enhance storage capacity
* Additional storage capacity of approximately 2.5 days
Further, a 4.5 km, 900 mm pipeline is being laid to replace open water channels and improve supply efficiency.
Drainage Strengthening & New Works
* A new drain of ~1 km length will be constructed on Gohana Road at a cost of approximately ₹1.5 crore
* Existing drains across key roads including Sonepat Road, Delhi Road, and Sheila Bypass are being repaired
* Unconnected drains are being integrated with the sewer network
Special focus is being given to chronic waterlogging points such as Chhotu Ram Chowk and MDU Gate.
Strict Enforcement Measures
To ensure system efficiency:
* Daily challans will be issued against individuals disposing cow dung into sewers and drains
* Waste dumping and sanitation violations will invite strict action
* Departments have been directed to maintain zero tolerance for negligence
Sanitation & Waste Management Drive
* Speed of waste collection across the city is being increased
* Immediate lifting of garbage from identified hotspots has been ordered
* Citizens are urged to use designated Municipal Corporation collection vehicles only
During inspections, immediate directions were issued for:
* Clearing garbage near CR Polytechnic College
* Strengthening drainage near MDU Gate
* Cleaning of sewer lines near Sector 3–4 culvert
* Ensuring proper functioning of disposal systems near Appu Ghar
Strict accountability has been fixed on departments for timely execution.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to citizens to:
* Avoid dumping waste in drains
* Use authorized garbage collection systems
* Share suggestions for improving sanitation and drainage
“Urban infrastructure must function before the crisis, not after it. Timely action, strict enforcement, and citizen cooperation will ensure a clean, water-secure, and flood-resilient Rohtak,” he added.
