Director, Prime Minister's Office reviews Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U); interact with beneficiaries; direct officials to ensure maximum benefit to residents

Ludhiana, July 30, 2025: With an aim to ensure maximum benefit to the eligible beneficiaries, Director, Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Manmeet Kaur reviewed the progress under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana -Urban (PMAY-U) on Wednesday.
During the review meeting held at Zone D office of Municipal Corporation (MC) on Wednesday, Director PMO Manmeet Kaur took feedback from the concerned officials and issued necessary directions for ensuring maximum benefit to residents.
Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, ADC Rupinderpal Singh, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr Pragati Rani, MC Joint Commissioners Vineet Kumar and Abhishek Sharma, Zonal Commissioners Neeraj Jain, Gurpal Singh and Jasdev Sekhon, Technical Director, Local bodies department Baldeep Singh, Executive Officers (EO) from various municipal councils in Ludhiana district among other officials were present in the meeting.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban is a flagship Mission of Government of India being implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The mission addresses urban housing shortage among the EWS/LIG and MIG categories including the slum dwellers by ensuring a pucca house to all eligible urban households.
During the meeting, a presentation was shown to Director Manmeet Kaur wherein she was apprised about the status of applications submitted by residents in Ludhiana and other districts of the state for availing benefits under the PM Awas Yojana.
After holding the meeting with the officials, Director Manmeet Kaur also moved to the field to interact with the beneficiaries of the PM Awas Yojana. She took feedback from the beneficiaries in different areas including Gurmail Nagar in Lohara, Fatehpur Awana, Barewal, Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, Preet Nagar Shimlapuri and other nearby areas.
During the visit, she also encouraged a few eligible residents to avail benefits under the scheme. The concerned officials were also asked to list out concerns faced at the ground level, if any.
Director, PMO, Manmeet Kaur stated that their aim is to ensure maximum benefit of the government schemes to the eligible residents. Apart from PM Awas Yojana, she directed the officials to ensure that residents get the benefits under all the government schemes launched in the past.
