Digital System Has Made Government System More Accountable and Transparent: HIRD Director Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan
Nilokheri , February 9, 2026:. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, unprecedented transparency has been brought into the country's governance system. Today, the benefits of government schemes are reaching the right person at the right time. Through digital platforms and technology, the government has made the system more accountable and transparent, which has further strengthened the common citizen's trust in the governance system. These views were expressed by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD). He was addressing the participants at the inaugural session of the five-day training program on the effective use of MIS under WDC-PMKSY 2.0.
Dr. Chauhan inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. Program Coordinator Kamaldeep Sangwan and K. Rajeshwar from NIRD, Hyderabad, welcomed Dr. Chauhan.
Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan said that this five-day training program has been organized with the objective of understanding and implementing the effective use of MIS information in the projects implemented under WDC-PMKSY 2.0. He explained that the MIS system enables monitoring, evaluation, and transparent implementation of schemes, which improves both the quality and speed of development work, and such programs prove helpful in increasing the efficiency of officers and employees.
HIRD Director Dr. Chauhan said that a revolutionary change has been witnessed in the current government with the use of the latest technology. He referred to the statement of former Prime Ministers that only 15 paise out of every rupee sent from Delhi reached the beneficiary. Today, under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the amount reaches the farmers' accounts directly with the press of a button by the Prime Minister, which is a strong example of technology, transparency, and good governance.
Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan said that the objective of training programs is not only to impart information but also to implement it effectively at the ground level. He urged the participants to use the knowledge and technical skills acquired during the training for better implementation of schemes in their respective areas. He said that only when officers and employees are technologically empowered do the real benefits of the schemes reach the last person, and the vision of rural development is realized.
Gurbinder Singh from NIRDPR, technical expert Mahavir Sangwan, Vikas, Dev, Satyavir Singh (Member, WDT), Sonu Kumar (WDT) and others were present on the occasion.
