Digital Census 2027: Mayor Inderjit Kaur launches Self Enumeration in city; NGOs involved for mass awareness and citizen participation

Taking lead as the first citizen of the city, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur launched the self enumeration drive in the city under the first ever Digital Census 2027 during an event held at MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Thursday.

Ludhiana, April 30, 2026: Taking lead as the first citizen of the city, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur launched the self enumeration drive in the city under the first ever Digital Census 2027 during an event held at MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Thursday. 
Under the first phase of the Digital Census 2027 - Houselisting and Housing Census, the self enumeration commenced in the state on Thursday (April 30) and it will continue till May 14, 2026. The residents can voluntarily submit housing details (33 questions) online through self enumeration by sitting at their homes.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur alongwith other participants also registered their information through self enumeration on the first day. 
MC Assistant Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon, Councillor Indu Munish Shah, Superintendent Tarun Goyal, President District Bar Association Ludhiana Adv Vipin Saggar, members of different NGOs including Founder CityNeeds Maneet Dewan, Kriti Grover from Sneh Welfare, SB Pandhi, Radhika Jaitwani among others were present during the launching ceremony.
Appealing to the residents to participate actively in Self Enumeration, Mayor Inderjit Kaur stated that it is a major initiative taken by the government. Residents can conveniently submit their household Census details online from the comfort of their homes through the official portal se.census.gov.in using only their mobile number and OTP.
The Self Enumeration can be done from April 30 till May 14. If any household does not complete Self Enumeration online, an official Enumerator will visit their houses/properties during the subsequent field enumeration phase to commence from May 15, 2026.
The officials stated that all information provided during the Census is kept strictly confidential and protected by law. The data collected will be used solely for planning, policy-making, and developmental purposes. 
Mayor Inderjit Kaur stated that the district administration and Municipal Corporation has been spreading awareness among the residents. Various NGOs have also been involved in the process so that more residents should opt for self enumeration. 
Mayor Inderjit Kaur stated that Census is very important as this helps the government in framing policies/schemes and taking various decisions for the welfare of the residents across the country. 
Appealing to the residents to submit accurate information during Self Enumeration, Mayor Inderjit Kaur appealed to the residents to submit the information at the earliest. 
*Simple Process for Self Enumeration:*
1. Visit the official portal: se.census.gov.in
2. Register or Login using your mobile number
3. Verify with the received OTP
4. Fill in the household and family details
5. Mark the location of your house on the map, if required
6. Submit the form and save the generated SE ID for future reference
7. The SE Code has to be submitted with the enumerator during the field visit
