Design Fest ‘Sutram’ Brings Together Art, Craft and Fashion at SUPVA
The three-day design festival ‘Sutram’ began at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) on Wednesday with the unfurling of the festival flag. Organised by the Faculty of Design, the festival showcases students’ creative work and design skills developed during their academic journey.
Rohtak, August 12, 2026: The three-day design festival ‘Sutram’ began at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) on Wednesday with the unfurling of the festival flag. Organised by the Faculty of Design, the festival showcases students’ creative work and design skills developed during their academic journey.
Renowned poet and lyricist Alok Shrivastava and SUPVA Vice-Chancellor Dr Amit Arya inaugurated the festival by unfurling the specially designed ‘Sutram’ flag. They also lit the ceremonial lamp and inaugurated the students’ exhibition, appreciating their creativity and innovative designs. Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha along with Dean (Academic Affairs) Dr. Ajay Kaushik, and Faculty Coordinators Dr. Shaili Khanna (Design), Ajay Bahu Joshi (Planning and Architecture), Vinay Kumar (Visual Arts), and Mahesh TP (Film and Television) and other officials and faculty members were present on this occasion.
The festival, which will continue till August 14, features live workshops showcasing traditional arts and crafts from different states, including Punjab’s Phulkari, Bihar’s Madhubani painting, terracotta art and fabric jewellery, Rajasthan’s hand-block printing and Haryana’s handloom weaving. School students from Rohtak are also participating in the workshops and learning various craft-making techniques.
A student-run food court, ‘Chaupati’, and colourful selfie points have emerged as major attractions for visitors. Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik Manocha said entry to the festival is free for the public, and citizens interested in art, culture and fashion design can visit the exhibition and activities on August 13 and 14.
