Deputy Commissioner offers to be first one to get vaccinated for covid 19 vaccine in second phase

Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma today offered to be the first one to get vaccinated for Covid 19 vaccine for the second phase, that is expected to start from Wednesday (February 3, 2021). He informed that in the second phase, all frontline workers from revenue, police and sanitation and those government departments that have remained in the frontline with the revenue department officials during covid pandemic, would be administered the first dose of Covid 19 vaccine. He informed that till date, around 20,000 frontline workers have got themselves registered on the government portal and the second phase of vaccination is expected to start from February 3 onwards.

A meeting of District Task Force regarding Covid 19 vaccination was held at Bachat Bhawan, here today, which was attended by ADC (D) Mr Sandeep Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Mr J Elanchezhian, Civil Surgeon Dr Sukhjeevan Kakkar, District Immunisation Officer Dr Kiran, Dr Bishav Mohan from DMCH, besides representatives of all prominent private hospitals.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that in the first phase of vaccination, 16,322 healthcare workers got themselves vaccinated, which is the highest in the state. He said that in second phase, around 20,000 frontline workers from revenue, police and sanitation and those government departments that have remained in the frontline with the revenue department officials during covid pandemic have got themselves registered on the government portal and many more are getting themselves registered as the registration is open till February 7, 2021.

He clarified that the vaccine has no side effects as it has been developed after great research by world renowned scientists. The Deputy Commissioner said that as a confidence building measure, he wants to be the first one from second phase to receive the first shot of Covid 19 vaccination on Wednesday. He appealed that people should not believe in any rumours on social media.

The Deputy Commissioner said that this vaccine has been launched after carrying out several trials and there is no need to panic. He said that people should understand that if the doctors and healthcare workers have themselves volunteered for the first phase, it clearly shows that they have full faith in this vaccine. He also said that getting vaccination done is purely voluntary, but appealed that everyone should get vaccinated.
