Ludhiana, March 14, 2024: Department of Nephrology at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H) commemorated World Kidney Day aimed at raising awareness about kidney health. Among the highlights was a poster-making competition and an enlightening skit performed for patients and attendants at the hospital OPD.

The event was graced by Bipin Gupta, Secretary of DMC&H Managing Society; Dr. GS Wander, Principal, DMC&H; Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean , DMC&H; Dr. Triza Jiwan, Principal, DMCH College of Nursing; Nidhi Sagar, Vice Principal, DMCH College of Nursing; and Bindu from the College of Nursing.

Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, commended the efforts of the Department of Nephrology and the students of BSc Nursing. He reassured the public that DMC&H is fully equipped to address all types of kidney-related ailments at every stage of treatment.

Dr. GS Wander, Principal of DMC&H, highlighted the significance of making healthy lifestyle choices to combat the rising prevalence of ailments among patients. He emphasized the importance of prompt action in seeking medical attention, particularly among older patients.

Dr. Vikas Makkar, Head of the Department of Nephrology, shed light on the prevalent trend of patients delaying visits to healthcare professionals and opting for unqualified practitioners, which exacerbates their conditions. He stressed the importance of seeking proper medical care for timely intervention.

The students from BSc Nursing, DMC&H College of Nursing, delivered an informative and entertaining skit in the OPD area, urging the public to promptly seek medical attention for any unusual symptoms. Their performance carried a crucial message about the importance of proactive healthcare practices.

The winners of the poster-making competition were honored by the guests, further encouraging participation and awareness about kidney health.
