Chandigarh, September 10, 2025: The Department of Biochemistry organised its Induction Program and Alumni Interaction today, marking the formal welcome of newly admitted students into the academic journey of biochemistry.
Professor Amarjit Singh Naura, Chairperson of the Department, welcomed the students and shared insights on the New Education Policy, emphasising the core values of dedication and discipline. He encouraged students to make the most of the resources available in the department and highlighted the importance of applying biochemistry knowledge for the benefit of society. He also outlined various academic and co-curricular activities regularly conducted in the department.
Addressing the issue of ragging, Professor Naura reassured students about the preventive measures in place. Students were informed about a special session on anti-ragging and were provided with links to short films created by UGC to spread awareness about the negative effects of ragging.
The event featured an interaction with Professor S.K. Arora, a distinguished alumnus of the department and former faculty member at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He spoke about the vital role of biochemistry in the fields of health and disease, shared his personal academic journey, and encouraged students to explore the wide range of opportunities in the discipline.
Faculty members of the department also engaged with the students, encouraging open communication and offering support as they embark on their academic journey.
To conclude the program, students were taken on a tour of the department to familiarise themselves with the available facilities and infrastructure that will support their learning experience.
