Ferozepur, December 23, 2025: Dense fog continued to take a deadly toll in this border district as a Punjab Roadways driver lost his life in a road accident on the Ferozepur–Fazilka road near Gudder Dandi village early on Tuesday. The incident came within 24 hours of another fatal accident in the district, highlighting the growing dangers posed by poor visibility during the winter season.

The deceased has been identified as Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Alphu Ke village, who was serving as a driver with Punjab Roadways. According to information, Jaswinder Singh was travelling on his motorcycle to report for duty when an unidentified overspeeding vehicle rammed into his bike from behind. The vehicle driver fled the spot immediately after the collision.

At the time of the accident, dense fog had severely reduced visibility on the stretch, which is being cited as a major factor behind the mishap. Jaswinder Singh sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Ferozepur, where doctors declared him brought dead. The incident triggered a pall of gloom in the area, particularly among colleagues and residents of his native village.

The tragedy followed another fatal accident reported on Monday, when a 14-year-old school student, Harshkaran Singh of Mansurwala Kalan village in the Zira sub-division, succumbed to injuries sustained in a fog-related mishap. Harshkaran was on his way to school in Pandori Khattrian village along with other students in an auto rickshaw when the vehicle lost balance and overturned. While most students escaped with minor injuries, Harshkaran and another student were critically injured and referred to Guru Gobind Singh Government Medical College in Faridkot, where Harshkaran later died during treatment.
