New Delhi, May 19 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday led BJP’s ‘Sindoor Yatra’ to thank the armed forces and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for avenging the Pahalgam terror attack and “safeguarding the honour and pride of the country’s daughters and sisters”.
“On behalf of all the women of India, I offer my heartfelt gratitude to our armed forces, bow in respect, and salute their unmatched bravery,” she said.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the Sindoor Yatra is far more than just a ceremonial event — it is a powerful and heartfelt tribute from the women of the nation to our armed forces.
She said that through Operation Sindoor, India’s brave soldiers have valiantly safeguarded the honor and pride of the country’s daughters and sisters, an achievement that fills the entire nation with pride.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government and armed forces launched a bold and decisive strike against terrorism on Pakistan, successfully dismantling every terrorist base, she said.
BJP Mahila Morcha National President Vanathi Srinivasan, former Union Minister Smriti Irani, Delhi BJP Co-incharge Alka Gurjar and MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat also addressed thousands of women during the "Sindoor Yatra".
Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha President Richa Pandey, Delhi BJP State Vice President Yogita Singh and Lata Gupta, State Minister Sarika Jain, Delhi Mahila Morcha General Secretary Priyal Bhardwaj, Sarita Tomar and Vaishali Poddar also participated in the Yatra.
Mahila Morcha National President Vanathi Srinivasan said that Mahila Morcha workers are organizing “Sindoor Yatras” across the country.
In every district and city, women are taking to the streets carrying the Indian tricolor, symbolising the valor and bravery of Indian soldiers.
She also thanked PM Modi for refusing to compromise on terrorism and national security and for clearly stating that Pakistan will now be answered in the language it understands.
Smriti Irani said that Operation Sindoor is not just a campaign but a symbol of the nation’s pride and commitment.
“It sends a strong message to terrorists that whenever they try to target women of this country, they will find the entire nation, the Government of India, and our armed forces standing in defence of every daughter and mother,” she said.
She further said that through Operation Sindoor, we salute all women and especially those mothers whose sons are safeguarding our borders.
Irani stated that because our Army stands strong at the border, the sindoor (vermilion) of our mothers and sisters remains safe.
She said the nation bows not just to the Army but also to PM Modi, who has pledged that the country will neither bow down nor break.
