Ludhiana, October 23, 2019: To mark the occasion of 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, CT University (CTU), with coordination of Sewa Sankalp Society (Regd), inaugurated Guru Nanak Chair at its campus.
The Chair was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Parneet Sachdev, Principal Commissioner & Director Investigation, Punjab and J&K, in the presence of Harpreet Singh Sandhu, former Advocate General Punjab, CTU Chancellor Charanjit Singh Channi, Co-Chairperson Parminder Kaur Channi, Managing Director Manbir Singh, Vice Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chairman Harpreet Singh, Registrar Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman with Deans, Directors and Heads of Schools beside students, faculty members, villagers and others.
While inaugurating the event, Chief Guest Parneet Sachdev said, “The teachings and philosophies of Guru Nanak are all the more relevant in the contemporary society than ever before. He added that the Chair will prove to be a landmark in research on Nanak’s philosophy. He emphasised on the creation of a regional library on Guru Nanak.”
The event started with reciting the Japji Sahib by faculty, staff and students followed by the Shabads “ Gagan Main Thal”. The Sarpanches of nearby villages, people from various walks of life, educationists and the Members of Sewa Sankalp Society also attended the event.
Registrar Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman shared that the eminent scholars and PhD students of University will conduct research on various topics like Religious Pluralism in Punjab, Farming Model of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Message through the poetry of Guru Nanak and within one year, reference documentation will be brought out.
Advocate Harpreet Singh Sandhu said that Sewa Sankalp Society and CTU will work in concert for meeting the objectives of the Chair. He delved on the multi dimensional reflections of Guru Nanak’s philosophy and teachings.
Former President of Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Prof Gurbhajan Gill said that Nanak without Bhai Mardana was hard to understand. He suggested that the Guru Nanak Chair at CTU should gather all publications on the Guru and bring out an encyclopaedia in print and electronic form and set up a Centre for Research on musicology with particular reference to Guru Nanak.
CT University Chancellor Charanjit Singh Channi congratulated the organizers for the unique initiative taken by the University.
The prominent persons who took part in the celebrations included Rupinder Singh, PPS, Kanwaljit Nilibar, Prof Harjeshwar Pal Singh, Amarpreet Singh, Managing Director along with Team of Khalsa Aid, Core Team Members of Alliance of Sikh Organizations, Dr Baldev Singh Naurth, Arbinder Singh of Ludhiana Machine Tools Association, Amrinder Singh Pandher, Kulwinder Channey, B.S.Bawa and P.S.Bawa among others.
