DC Sachin Gupta urges Citizens to Voluntarily Follow Traffic Rules

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta appealed to the residents of the district to voluntarily follow traffic rules in the interest of their own safety and the safety of other citizens. He said that traffic rules have been framed keeping public safety in mind. The District Administration, through the Transport Department, is running a Road Safety Awareness Campaign till 31 January 2026 to make citizens aware of traffic rules.

Rohtak, January 21, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta appealed to the residents of the district to voluntarily follow traffic rules in the interest of their own safety and the safety of other citizens. He said that traffic rules have been framed keeping public safety in mind. The District Administration, through the Transport Department, is running a Road Safety Awareness Campaign till 31 January 2026 to make citizens aware of traffic rules.

DC Sachin Gupta said that the District Administration is making every possible effort to reduce road accidents by making maximum use of technology and to prevent loss of life in such accidents. During the road safety awareness campaign, students and vehicle drivers are also being administered the Road Safety Pledge. In this series, a slogan writing competition on the theme of “Do Not Drive in the Wrong Direction” was organised by the Regional Transport Authority, Traffic Police and IDTR team. The winning students were honoured with certificates.

The Deputy Commissioner said that students and teachers were administered the Road Safety Pledge during the programme. They pledged to keep all road-related aspects in mind before driving, to always voluntarily follow road and traffic rules, to take care of their own safety as well as that of other road users, to work dedicatedly and regularly for road safety, to educate and motivate others, to always come forward to help accident victims, and to strive towards developing a clean, healthy, safe and responsible road culture. The Transport Department/Regional Transport Authority is also distributing road safety calendars and pamphlets during these programmes to spread the message of road safety.

DC Sachin Gupta further advised citizens to always use seat belts while driving and not to use mobile phones while driving. Carrying more than two persons on a two-wheeler is a violation of rules. Two-wheelers should not be driven without helmets. Overloading of vehicles is punishable by law. Do not drive under the influence of alcohol. While operating school buses, strictly follow the Safe School Vehicle Policy. During foggy conditions, keep vehicle speed slow and use fog lights. Always drive in your lane, install reflector tape on vehicles, and ensure children are sent to school in safe vehicles.

Under the guidance of District Transport Officer and RTA Secretary, Virender Singh Dhull, students of MKJK Mahavidyalaya were made aware about road safety. The Traffic Police team, Rohtak, provided information on road safety and traffic rules and also administered the Road Safety Pledge.

RTA Secretary said that the campaign aims to minimise road accidents by creating awareness among citizens about traffic rules. The Regional Transport Authority, Traffic Police, schools, colleges and all road construction related departments are participating in the campaign. Special awareness is also being created about the safety of pedestrians. Traffic Inspector Jasbir Singh, RTA Office Inspector Jasbir Singh, Sub-Inspectors Sandeep Singh Gulia and Rajesh, social worker Subhash Gupta and other officials were present on the occasion.
