DC Sachin Gupta pushes Allied Farming; Madodi Jatan selected as Integrated Model Village

Rohtak, January 28, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta on Tuesday directed officials to aggressively promote animal husbandry, horticulture and fisheries among farmers to boost rural incomes while chairing the monthly district-level review meeting of Agriculture and allied departments.

Outlining his vision, the Deputy Commissioner said the district administration is working towards doubling farmers’ income through diversification, technology adoption and convergence of schemes, while ensuring that every welfare programme reaches the rightful and most needy beneficiaries in a transparent, time-bound and accountable manner. He added that monthly monitoring and field-level verification would be undertaken to track outcomes.

He announced that Madodi Jatan village has been selected as the district’s Integrated Model Village, where convergent interventions will be undertaken to raise farmers’ income to at least ₹65,000 per acre per annum.

Stressing diversification, the Deputy Commissioner asked the Horticulture Department to encourage beekeeping, noting that honey has been brought under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana with a protected price of ₹120 per kg. Farmers were directed to be widely sensitised about the scheme and encouraged to shift towards high-value cash crops.

For the Animal Husbandry sector, officers were told to intensify outreach regarding subsidies for establishing mini-dairies and milk-production schemes. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the district’s veterinary network of 65 animal hospitals, 46 dispensaries, one polyclinic and three mobile vans, and directed universal vaccination, livestock insurance coverage and completion of all targets by March.

Setting production benchmarks, he instructed the Fisheries Department to achieve 9,000 metric tonnes this year and scale up to 15,000 metric tonnes next year, noting that around 8,000 metric tonnes have already been produced. Quality seed supply, regular water testing and full awareness of benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana were emphasised.

Agriculture-sector directions included accelerating crop diversification from paddy to oilseeds, pulses, millets and vegetables, expansion of natural farming clusters, strict fertiliser monitoring, speedy PM-Kisan grievance disposal and strengthening of Farmer Producer Organisations.

The Deputy Commissioner further directed all departments to work in close coordination, prepare village-specific action plans for Madodi Jatan and submit progress reports for review in the next meeting.

The meeting was attended by Divisional Land Conservation Officer Dr Neena Sehrawat, Deputy Director Agriculture Dr Surender Malik, District Fisheries Officer Asha Hooda, District Horticulture Officer Dr Madan Lal, Animal Husbandry SDO Dr Narendra Dahiya, BDPO Kalanaur Dharampal, SSO Anil Ahlawat, SDAO Sandeep Singh and other officers.
