Rohtak, June 25, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta directed officials to ensure all necessary measures are taken to prevent waterlogging in urban areas. He emphasized the speedy completion of ongoing drainage projects and ordered the cleaning of drains and the removal of accumulated silt. He stated that the district administration is continuously striving to implement effective measures for preventing waterlogging and ensuring proper drainage in the urban area.

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta inspected the arrangements being made to prevent waterlogging in the urban area today. He was accompanied by Municipal Corporation Commissioner Narendra Kumar, Joint Commissioner Namita Singh, and officials from other relevant departments.

While reviewing various locations—including sites for drain cleaning and construction—he issued necessary directives to the officials. He instructed them to implement measures to prevent waterlogging at locations that had faced such issues last year and to ensure robust drainage arrangements. He directed all departments to ensure the desilting of drains and storm-water channels before the monsoon, the operational readiness of machinery and pumps, a coordinated response mechanism during the monsoon, and effective post-rain drainage arrangements.

The Deputy Commissioner inspected the pump set installed for drainage at Appu Ghar and had it operated on-site to verify its functionality. He instructed Municipal Corporation officials to make necessary arrangements for water collection in the reservoir adjacent to Appu Ghar. Subsequently, he inspected a drain under construction by the Municipal Corporation on the local Gohana Road and directed officials to expedite its completion. The Municipal Corporation is constructing a drain approximately 700 meters long near the local TB Hospital, a project nearing completion. A sum of ₹1.35 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of this drain.

He inspected the cleaning of drains at the local Sukhpura Chowk and directed Municipal Corporation officials to ensure the simultaneous removal of the silt and polythene being extracted from the drains, so that the waste would not wash back into them. He also inspected the flyover currently under construction at Sukhpura Chowk and issued necessary instructions to the officials. He emphasized that the work of cleaning the city's drainage channels and drains under the Corporation's jurisdiction must be completed within a set timeframe.

Accompanied by a team of officials, the Deputy Commissioner also inspected the site proposed for a disposal facility—estimated to cost approximately ₹18 crore—near the local Gokarna pilgrimage site. The Public Health Department has proposed laying a 700 mm diameter DI (Ductile Iron) pipeline, spanning roughly 4.5 kilometers, to carry drainage water from this area to Drain No. 8; additionally, five pump sets will be installed at the disposal site. The contract for this disposal project has been awarded, and work is scheduled to commence next week.
