DC Sachin Gupta Flags off Cancer Awareness Walkathon
With the objective of promoting awareness about cancer prevention and emphasising the importance of early detection and timely medical intervention, a Cancer Awareness Walkathon was organised on Sunday morning from Devi Lal Park, Rohtak.
Rohtak, December 14, 2025: With the objective of promoting awareness about cancer prevention and emphasising the importance of early detection and timely medical intervention, a Cancer Awareness Walkathon was organised on Sunday morning from Devi Lal Park, Rohtak.
The walkathon was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta, who also walked alongside participants and interacted with citizens, encouraging them to adopt a preventive and health-conscious lifestyle.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that cancer continues to be a major public health concern and is not merely a medical issue but also a social challenge that demands sustained awareness and behavioural change. He emphasised that early diagnosis through regular screening, timely medical consultation and healthy lifestyle practices can significantly reduce cancer-related mortality and improve treatment outcomes. He commended Positron Hospital for taking a proactive role in mobilising community participation for such an important cause.
DC Sachin Gupta further underlined that community involvement and collective responsibility are essential for strengthening preventive healthcare systems. He urged citizens to spread awareness within their families, workplaces and neighborhoods, noting that informed communities play a crucial role in early detection and reducing the physical, emotional and financial burden associated with advanced-stage cancer treatment.
The walkathon saw enthusiastic participation from doctors, healthcare professionals, students, senior citizens and residents from various parts of the city. Informative messages on cancer prevention, lifestyle modification, risk factors and the importance of early screening were shared with participants throughout the event.
The District Administration Rohtak reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote preventive healthcare, public health awareness and community-driven health interventions, aimed at building a healthier and more informed society.
