DC Sachin Gupta directs to Ensure Registration of Every Pregnant Woman in the District

Rohtak, February 5, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta chaired a review meeting of the Health Department and directed officials to ensure the compulsory registration of every pregnant woman in the district. He stressed strict monitoring of all expectant mothers, close oversight of ultrasound centres, and achievement of 100 per cent immunisation coverage for pregnant women and children.

Addressing officers at the Mini Secretariat, the Deputy Commissioner said that Rohtak is steadily emerging as a model district in digital and preventive healthcare. He noted that the district is leading in the State in providing zero-dose vaccination to newborns and is moving decisively from treatment-centric systems to a health-assurance approach that guarantees dignity, transparency and accountability for citizens. Initiatives such as e-Health Rohtak and Nirogi Rohtak, he added, reflect this people-centric vision.

Reviewing maternal and child health indicators, the Deputy Commissioner called for intensified efforts to further reduce maternal and infant mortality. He directed that anaemia among pregnant women be tackled through timely supplementation and follow-up. He also instructed that mental-health counselors be present at ‘Swasthya Vahini’ camps to increase public awareness, and that dengue-prone localities be identified annually so that preventive measures, including safe drinking-water supply, can be ensured in advance.

He further directed that women identified with suspected breast cancer through mobile diagnostic services be linked promptly for treatment, including at PGI facilities, so that the objective of early detection and timely care is fully achieved. Emphasizing maternal safety, he reiterated that 100 per cent institutional deliveries must be ensured and that special attention be paid to complete immunization of children. He also called for organizing more blood-donation camps in coordination with the Red Cross and teams from the Civil Hospital and PGI.

On preventive healthcare, the Deputy Commissioner directed early completion of targeted screening under Nirogi Rohtak and prompt linkage of identified non-communicable disease patients with treatment and follow-up. Under Nirogi Haryana, more than 89 per cent of the target population has already been screened. He added that anaemia screening is being undertaken in coordination with ICDS and the Education Department, with assured supplementation for pregnant women, and emphasized further strengthening of screening and treatment under the TB-free campaign.

Reviewing mental-health services, he stated that under the Man Saarthi programme, wellness corners have been set up in schools and primary health centres, tele-psychiatry services are operational, and the District Mental Health Helpline is functioning from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with full confidentiality. At the village level, community health volunteers are assisting in dengue surveillance, TB awareness and maternal follow-up.

He informed that under the Clean Hospital–Green Hospital Mission, all 35 health institutions in the district have implemented authorized biomedical waste management with barcode tracking.

The meeting was attended by the Civil Surgeon Dr Ramesh Chandra and officials from the Health Department, Women and Child Development Department, the Red Cross Society, the Public Health Department and other allied agencies, who were directed to ensure time-bound implementation of all decisions taken.
