Rohtak, April 7, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta directed all departments to ensure that every targeted child and eligible woman in the district is administered deworming medicine on National Deworming Day, April 21, 2026, so that no beneficiary is left out.

Chairing a review meeting at the Mini Secretariat, Rohtak, the Deputy Commissioner stated that a total of 3,78,944 children in the age group of 1–19 years and 29,302 women in the age group of 20–24 years have been identified for administration of deworming tablets in the district. He emphasized coordinated efforts of the Health, Education, and Women & Child Development Departments to ensure the success of the campaign.

He directed that children in schools should be given the medicine only after meals, preferably after the mid-day meal, to ensure safety and effectiveness. Highlighting the importance of deworming, he said that intestinal worms can lead to anemia, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain in children and regular deworming significantly improves nutritional status and overall health.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that children aged 1–5 years will be covered through Anganwadi Centres, while those aged 6–19 years will be covered in government, aided, and private schools. Eligible women in the age group of 20–24 years, who are neither pregnant nor lactating, will also be administered the medicine.

He clarified that the deworming medicine is safe and has no adverse side effects. He further directed that any child or eligible woman who misses the dose on April 21 must be covered on the mop-up day scheduled for April 28, 2026.

He also instructed that dosage norms be strictly followed, with half a tablet for children aged 1–2 years (with water), one dissolved tablet for children aged 2–3 years, and one chewable tablet for children aged 3–19 years.

Reviewing the implementation of the National Child Health Programme, the Deputy Commissioner directed that all children registered at Anganwadi Centres must undergo health screening, ensuring their presence during visits for comprehensive health check-ups.

The meeting was attended by Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramesh Chandra, DDPO Rajpal Chahal, District Attorney Surender Pahwa, DEO Manjeet Malik, DEEO Diljeet Singh, DPO Deepika Saini, and other senior health and administrative officials.
