Rohtak, January 9, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta directed the AYUSH Department to ensure that citizens attending yoga camps are provided on-the-spot screening for blood pressure, blood sugar and joint-related ailments, keeping in view the health challenges associated with the winter season.
Chairing a review meeting at the Mini Secretariat, Rohtak, the Deputy Commissioner said that the AYUSH Department should work in coordination with the Health Department’s newly launched “Swasthya Vahini” initiative to conduct health check-ups and extend preventive healthcare services to the public. The meeting was attended by District Ayurvedic Officer Dr. Satpal, Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associate Tanumay Dutta, and other concerned officers.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that special attention should be given to senior citizens attending yoga camps, particularly for screening of BP, sugar levels and joint pain. Along with medical advice, necessary medicines should also be provided as per requirement. He added that the department may fix a nominal fee for these screening services, if required, and should also conduct random health screening drives as part of a special outreach campaign.
He further directed the department to promote the plantation of medicinal plants so that their benefits can be effectively utilized for community health.
Reviewing AYUSH OPD services, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that better healthcare facilities must be ensured for citizens visiting OPDs. He informed that health services are currently being provided through 68 AYUSH OPD centres in the district. In addition, yoga and pranayama sessions are being conducted in rural gymnasiums and Ayush Arogya Mandirs.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the AYUSH Department to intensify public awareness about yoga and promote it through gymnasiums, Ayush Arogya Mandirs, dispensaries and schools. AYUSH yoga instructors were directed to conduct regular demonstrations of various yogasanas and pranayama techniques at these locations to ensure wider public participation and improved health outcomes.
He also directed the department to prepare a structured plan for introducing yoga training in schools, through departmental yoga instructors, to inculcate healthy habits among students from an early age.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that preventive healthcare through yoga and AYUSH practices is essential for improving overall public health, and called upon citizens to actively participate in these initiatives.
