DC Sachin Gupta announces the launch of Mental Health Helpline for Citizens of Rohtak

Rohtak, December 10, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta announced that the Health Department has launched a dedicated Mental Health Helpline at the Psychiatry and De-addiction Centre of the District Civil Hospital, Rohtak, to support the mental well-being of citizens. The helpline - 8295474838 - will be operational Monday to Saturday, from 9 AM to 3 PM.

He urged citizens to make mental health a priority, stating that “a healthy mind is the foundation of a healthy life.”

DC Sachin Gupta informed that citizens contacting the helpline will receive proper counselling, guidance, and treatment support from health department psychiatrists and trained counsellors. Anyone experiencing stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression, irritability, panic, or any psychological distress can seek help without hesitation or fear.

Highlighting the growing challenges, he said that rapidly changing lifestyles, increasing competition, social and economic pressures, excessive workload, family responsibilities, unemployment, financial instability, overdependence on mobile and social media, lack of sleep, and social isolation are major triggers that disturb mental balance. Considering these factors, the Mental Health Helpline has been set up to ensure timely support for citizens.

He added that persistent stress, if ignored, can lead to serious mental and physical health issues such as anxiety disorders, depression, irritability, panic attacks, low confidence, chronic insomnia, heart problems, high blood pressure, digestive issues, and even substance abuse. Unfortunately, social stigma and myths around mental illness still prevent people from seeking timely help.

To reduce stress in daily life, the following practices are highly beneficial:
• Regular yoga, meditation, and pranayama
• At least 30 minutes of physical exercise every day
• Balanced diet and adequate sleep (7–8 hours)
• Limited screen time and reduced dependency on mobile devices
• Positive thinking and effective time management
• Sharing emotions instead of suppressing them
