DC launches mega vaccination drive in rural belt of Ludhiana, dedicates five camps

Ludhiana: Further ramping up the vaccination drive in the district to stem Covid spread, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Sunday dedicated Covid mega immunization camps in Doraha, Khanna, Samrala, Macchiwara and Kohara to facilitate maximum beneficiaries to get inoculated near to their homes especially among rural folk. 

Similarly, the camps were also organized in all 13 blocks of the district including Ludhiana -1, Ludhiana-2, Jagraon, Samrala, Dehlon, Maloudh, Pakhowal,Sidhwan Bet, Sudhar and Raikot. 

MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli and MLA Amrik Singh Dhillon were also joined the camps in Khanna, Samrala and Macchiwara. 

Emphasising the need that COVID vaccine is result of untiring efforts of scientists and researchers during his address, Deputy Commissioner said with the wholehearted support and cooperation of people could lead into contain the pandemic efficaciously.

The Deputy Commissioner said that vaccine is as much effective and safe as a helmet works for biker. He told people that as headgear protects from any injury to head, a reason behind road fatalities and similarly, vaccine reduces the chance of severity and saves life. 

The Deputy Commissioner told that with all residents above the age of 45 are now eligible for coronavirus vaccines, the administration is already in mission mode and people must come in large number to get the shield. He said that the vaccine is vital to suppresses this fresh wave of deadly disease and would help to save the precious lives. 

To dispel rumours about vaccine, Deputy Commissioner also shared the story of a villager, three rouges and goat and said the villager was carrying a goat on his shoulder, rouges conspired to snatch goat , three of them start calling the goat as dog repeatedly and villager gets befooled and throw away goat. 

Urging the sarpanches and other representatives of local bodies to play a proactive role in busting the myth or misinformation surrounding vaccine, DC said that their efforts can go a long way towards building confidence.

Dr Bishav Mohan from DMCH also detailed the gatherings about contagion and importance of Covid vaccine. 

Meanwhile to motivate the people to get the jab, Deputy Commissioner along with other dignitaries clapped for boosting their morale and applauded them. 

MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli and MLA Amrik Singh Dhillon also addressed the gathering in Khanna and Samrala and said that this is one kind of national duty and people must fulfill it to protect the country and countrymen from pathogen. 

Prominent among present occasion included SDMs Dr Baljinder Singh Dhillon, Mankanwal Singh, Geetika Singh, Harbans Singh and others.
