DC directs officials to visit mandis daily to oversee wheat procurement operations

Nawanshahr, April 12, 2022: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vishesh Sarangal on Tuesday directed the district heads of the procurement agencies to visit grain markets daily to ensure seamless and hassle-free purchase of wheat in the ongoing season.
 
Presiding over a meeting to review procurement of golden grains here at his office, Deputy Commissioner said that any sort of laxity would not be tolerated and asked them to remain in the field ensuring every grain of crop gets purchased without any inconvenience to the peasantry.
 
He said that state government is firmly committed for the smooth and hassle free procurement of wheat.
 
Sarangal asked the officials to take stock of the entire operations at ground level and submit the daily report to him for regular monitoring.
 
He also told them to minutely observe the procurement operations to ensure that the stocks of grains do not pile up in the market when season picks up in the next week.
 
He said that till today, 587 MT wheat so far has been arrived into eight grain markets out of which 538 MT has already been procured.
 
The Deputy Commissioner also asked the officers/ officials to keep him updated regarding the any kind of difficulty they face regarding procurement.
 
He said that the district administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure that the harvest of farmers gets lifted from the grain markets timely.
 
Prominent amongst others present present in the meeting included DFSC Madhu, DMO Swaran Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Raj Kumar, DM Markfed Sachin and others.
