DC constitutes committee for making necessary arrangements for cremation of bodies of Covid patients

Ludhiana:

District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Monday has set up a committee for ensuring necessary arrangements in the crematoriums and graveyards for cremating/buying bodies of those succumbed to Covid-19 in the district. 

In the order, he said that the committee would be headed by Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ludhiana as chairman and Joint CP Headquarters, Divisional Forest Officer, Ludhiana, District Food, Civil and Supply Controller (west) and IOC LPG Senior Sales Manager Sanchit Sharma would be members of the committee. 

He said that the committee would have freedom to use any cremation ground and cemetery for cremating and burying bodies of the Covid victims. He said none of management of cremation/burial grounds deny for performing last rites of victims die due to Covid. He warned that An FIR can be registered over non-compliance. 

 He said that if any crematoriums and graveyards deny do so, the committee would have power to open locks of gates and even the committee would have authority of demolishing the boundary wall for ensuring cremation/burial. 

Deputy Commissioner also said the committee can also engage any NGO for ensuring proper arrangements as per rituals.
