Mysore, September 22, 2018: To honor the legacy of D S Achuta Rao, Historian from Mysore University, Dr.S.K.Aruni, Director of Indian Council of Historical Research delivered an endowment lecture on ‘Karnataka Forts- Construction and Technology’ at Junior B.A.Hall, Maharaja’s College, today. Prof.Achuta Rao had made a remarkable mark for himself through meticulous research that rediscovered the glory of the much forgotten Mysore history. The D.S. Achuta Rao endowment lecture was inaugurated by Prof. Rajanna R, Registrar of Mysore University. Prof. C. P. Sunita, Principal of Maharaja’s College, said“Achuta Rao studied and taught at Maharaja’s College and was a renowned scholar and popular teacher. His legacy is taken forward by awarding the best graduating student in History at Maharaja’s College every year and an endowment History lecture’. Expressing his delight on the event, D. A. Prasanna, Convener, Prof. D.S. Achuta Rao Endowment thanked the University and announced a grant to translate to Kannada Prof. Rao’s seminal work ‘ Social and Administrative History of Mysore’ by Maharaja’s College History Faculty, Dr. Pavamana. The programme saw notable personalities like Prof. Anita Braggs, Administrative Officer, Maharajas College Mysore; Dr. Srikanta, Head, History Department, MaharajasCollege, Dr. R.D. Pavamana, Assistant Professor, History department and Dr. Y. H. Nayakwadi, Chairman of the Department of Studies in History at Manasa Gangotri.
