CT Institute of Architecture and Planning marks World Habitat Day

Jalandhar, October 5, 2021: CT Institute of Architecture and Planning, South Campus, Shahpur in association with The Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana local centre, CT University Ludhiana and Students’ Chapter Institution of Engineers (India), Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana celebrated the World Habitat Day. Over 200 students and delegates took part in this event. The event also saw an exhibition by students of CTIAP showcasing their excellent work and designs.

After a long hiatus due to corona, this was the beginning of offline events. The theme of the day was Accelerating urban action for a carbon free world.

While welcoming the audience, Dr. Sewa Singh, Principal CTIT focused on present needs of human society with respect to zero net buildings. Ar. Shruti Kapoor, HOD, CT Institute of Architecture and Planning congratulated the architect fraternity on the occasion of World Architecture day which incidentally coincides with the World Habitat Day.

In his address Er. R L Mahajan, Chairman, IE(I), Ludhiana centre said that institution of Engineers was promoting the technical activities in a big way. Er. Surjit Singh, Honorary Secretary gave a brief insight into the history of institution and also about the theme of the program. Dr. Arvind Dhingra, Executive Director, STEP-GNDEC and Faculty Advisor, SCIE GNDEC, Ludhiana apprised the audience about the theme of the event.

The expert speaker for the day was Ar. Vishakha and Ar. Sukriti reminded everyone about the collective responsibility for betterment of human settlement. They highlighted that bioclimatic architecture has arisen as an effort in architectural design since last decades. It can be interpreted as an approach to architectural design that minimizes resource consumption, utilizes natural energy, assuages environmental damages, and improves human health.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Rahul Malhotra, Campus Director said that such events were a pre cursor to ignite the thinking in youth towards the problems facing the world. He also thanked senior members of the Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana Local centre for making the event a grand one with their gracious presence.
