Three-day CRE Programme on the theme “Inclusive Education and Policies/Legislation in India,” concluded at the Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Panjab University. Many academicians, rehabilitation professionals, and students participated in the programme to explore inclusive education from policy to classroom practice.

Chandigarh, October 16, 2025: Three-day CRE Programme on the theme “Inclusive Education and Policies/Legislation in India,” concluded at the Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Panjab University. Many academicians, rehabilitation professionals, and students participated in the programme to explore inclusive education from policy to classroom practice.
The final day featured sessions by Dr. Dazy Zarabi, Dr. Parvesh Kumar, Dr. Nitesh Sharma, and Nitin Raj. Dr. Zarabi highlighted intersectionality in inclusive education, stressing equality across gender and socioeconomic lines. Dr. Kumar discussed mindfulness and holistic remediation, while Dr. Sharma spoke on sign language and curriculum adaptation. Raj outlined future directions toward Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Dr. Rahman shared case studies of successful inclusive schools in India.
During the second day, Dr. Krishan Kumar Sony discussed tools for assessment and implementation for differently-abled learners, focusing on psychological testing. Dr. Navleen Kaur elaborated on how the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, expanded the recognised disabilities from 7 to 21, ensuring broader protection for children with special needs. Dr. Anuradha Sharma emphasised NEP 2020’s focus on inclusivity, flexibility, and accessibility in education, while Satparkarsh (DCEDS, Panjab University traced the evolution of inclusive education in India from IEDC to IEDSS. Dr. Md. Noorain Alam (PGIMER, Chandigarh) explained the neuroanatomy of neurodevelopmental disorders like ASD, ADHD, DLD, and CP, and Nitin Raj presented strategies for effective classroom management of diverse learners.
