Ludhiana:    Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal today informed that in a good news for the residents, no new positive case of Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19) has been reported in the district in last three days time. He said that this has been possible only due to dedicated hard work by all officials of health department, district administration as well as all other departments that have been working 24X7 to check the spread of COVID 19 in district Ludhiana.
    He assured the residents that the situation is totally under control and all senior officials are personally monitoring it on daily basis. He informed that till date, more than 1.5 lakh food packets/ration provided by Punjab government, District Red Cross Society and SDRF have been provided to the needy persons in the district and more such packets are being provided on daily basis.
    He informed that for the benefit of residents, the district administration would be starting a medical bulletin shortly. He informed that the residents would have direct interaction with a team of experts, comprising Civil Surgeon, an AYUSH doctor, and two private doctors. And this team would answer all queries of residents related to COVID 19.
    The Deputy Commissioner informed that as per the orders of the Union government, the curfew/lockdown was extended till May 3, 2020. He informed that the high level committee of union government has announced today that if the situation remains under control in any particular district by April 20, 2020, then some relaxations would be given to those particular districts. He said that with regard to Ludhiana, a meeting to analyse whether relaxations are to be given or not, would be held by the District Administration Ludhiana on April 20, 2020 and the decision regarding it would be taken in that meeting.
    He informed that on the first day of procurement season, 15 passes were issued to the farmers in Khanna mandi today, who brought their produce in a hassle free manner. He informed that the passes for bringing produce to the mandis by farmers would be issued by the Arhtiyas themselves and the district administration has already provided such passes to the arhtiyas. He urged the farmers to bring their procure in the mandis only as per their turn.
    The Deputy Commissioner informed that till date, 844 samples of suspected patients have been taken in district Ludhiana, while reports of 698 samples have been received. He said that 668 patients have tested negative and the results of 146 samples (including 44 samples sent today) are awaited. He informed that till date, 13 patients (including one each from Jalandhar and Barnala) have tested positive for COVID 19.
