COOPERATIVE AWARENESS AMONG YOUTH WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO BHUTTICO AND AMUL -SEMINAR AT UIFT &VD

Chandigarh, March 28, 2023: University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development in collaboration with the Department of Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised a seminar titled "Cooperative Awareness among Youth with Special Reference to Bhuttico and Amul." Sixty students attended this lecture. The resource person was Dr. Puneet Sudan, Senior Faculty at Regional Institute of Cooperative Management in Chandigarh. Dr. Anu H. Gupta, Chairperson UIFT &VD, welcomed the resource person by mentioning the numerous cooperative societies engaged in the field of textiles and fashion and how these societies are responsible for preserving traditions and creating economic opportunities in the rural area. She emphasised the need of cooperative knowledge for young people.
 
In his presentation, Dr. Puneet Sudan focused on the concept of cooperative societies and their benefits. He emphasised that cooperative societies contribute to the production of employment and described the formation of a cooperative society. He elaborated on the operational management of numerous successful cooperative organisations. The Bhuttico weavers are renowned for their Kullu shawls. He described their success story and emphasised that the organization not only creates high-quality products but also protects the interests of artisans and their craft. Similarly, he discussed the case study of Amul with the students. The session was participative where questions of students were addressed together with the presentation by the resource person. Gargi, guest faculty at UIFT &VD, commended the presenter for an interesting and engaging session.
