Congress, with a 75-year history of oppression, should not preach morality: Kuldeep Dhaliwal
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab's chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal launched a sharp attack on the Congress, calling its announcement to boycott the elections a clear sign of its fear of defeat. Dhaliwal said that if anyone has written the history of “oppression” and “betrayal” in Punjab’s politics, it is the Congress, and today that very party is preaching lessons on morality.
Amritsar/Chandigarh, December 7, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab's chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal launched a sharp attack on the Congress, calling its announcement to boycott the elections a clear sign of its fear of defeat. Dhaliwal said that if anyone has written the history of “oppression” and “betrayal” in Punjab’s politics, it is the Congress, and today that very party is preaching lessons on morality.
Addressing the media during a press conference, Dhaliwal challenged the Congress to present even a single piece of evidence of “oppression” from any area of Amritsar Rural. The truth is that Congress is using the action taken against its MLA as an excuse because it is scared to face the public.
Dhaliwal outright rejected the Congress’ allegation that any kind of force is being used in the elections. He said that Congress claims action was taken against their MLA, and therefore they will not contest the elections. He questioned Congress, asking where exactly oppression occurred in the areas of Amritsar Rural, Baba Bakala, Jandiala, Majitha, Attari, or Ajnala. If even one person has faced any such thing, they should bring it forward. The reality is that AAP candidate Lakhwinder Singh himself was a victim of Congress’ hooliganism and is currently admitted to the hospital. Congress should be ashamed that despite committing hooliganism, it is portraying itself as the victim.
The AAP spokesperson held Congress’ internal conflict and arrogance responsible for its present condition. Referring to Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s statement that becoming the CM face requires ₹500 crore, he said this exposes the internal reality of Congress. Dhaliwal said that five people are roaming around Punjab claiming to be chief ministerial faces of Congress. This is the reason the party has been ruined.
He said that Punjab knows well the condition of Congress in Tarn Taran. Factionalism, arrogance, and the buying and selling of tickets have destroyed the party. Now, neither the workers want to stand with them, nor does the public.
Reminding people of Congress’ dark 75-year history, Dhaliwal said that people have not forgotten Congress’ role in killing youth in fake police encounters, the attack on the Gurudwaras, and burning Sikhs alive during the 1984 Delhi massacre. Congress has committed the biggest betrayal against the people of Punjab, and today that same party is teaching lessons on morality.
Targeting the Akali Dal as well, he said that Akali Dal is misusing SGPC by giving tickets to its employees and their families.
Dhaliwal said that AAP contests elections on development issues, and this time as well, they will seek votes from the people on the basis of their work. He made it clear that the people of Punjab stand firmly with AAP’s truth, honesty, and politics of development.
