Dharamsala, May 7, 2022: Sudhir Sharma, the former minister and national secretary of Congress party, has commented on the paper leak case in police recruitment in Himachal.  

In a press release issued here today, he said, “The case should be handed over to the CBI for a fair investigation of the whole issue, because it is the matter of a paper leak in police recruitment itself, and  a fair investigation cannot be expected from the SIT constituted of police officials to investigate this matter.”

Sudhir alleged the BJP led state government is playing with the future of thousands of unemployed youths who worked hard to prepare for this exam.

He further demanded, “It should also be ensured that the re-examination is conducted as soon as possible, for which the state government should bear all the expenses, because the applicants are already unemployed and the unemployed youth do not have so much means to spent for re prepare and travel for the examination moreover the leak of this paper is not the fault of thousands of unemployed youth who appeared in the exam.”

He said that after this episode, the public's suspicion has also been raised on other recruitments being done in the state, so a CBI inquiry should be ordered at the earliest.
 
Yesterday, amid reports of a question paper leak, Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur announced the cancellation of recruitment of constables. The test for which was held on March 27 this year. Over 70,000 candidates had appeared for the exam for 1,700 posts. State DGP Sanjay Kundu has constituted an SIT, comprising DIG Madhu Sudan, Commanding officer Bangarh Vimukt Ranjan, SP Khushal Sharma, SP Cyber Crime Rohit Malpani and SP CID Varender Kalia, to investigate the case.

Kangra, SP, Khushal Sharma said that based on a secret input some people were questioned on the basis of suspicion and it was found that the examination was compromised. He said that a case FIR under section 420 and 120 B of IPC was registered at Gaggle police station on Thursday and 4 persons including three candidates have been arrested so far.

This is for the second time within three years that the state government has nullified the examination to select constables. In August 2019, the examination was held invalid after six men were caught impersonating as candidates.
