TO COLLABORATE OR PERISH, KALRA ADVISES CORPORATES AT LMA

Ludhiana, April 18, 2019: “Let us all collaborate and shift from the Vicious Cycle of Extreme Weather Events to a Virtuous Cycle of being proud inhabitants of a Beautiful Planet” was the message shared by Krishan Kalra, philanthropist, environmentalist and a conscientious business magnate at LMA during a Seminar on Climate Change. Kalra maintained that climate change and its consequences of Global Warming were leading to frequent droughts and floods at multiple places in the world . Kalra added that though this is a global problem, its impact is being felt in local areas, and if not addressed this would lead to an Apocalypse kind of scenario. Kalra shared the contributing factors for environmental disasters, their immediate and long term impact and also the measures that need to be taken to mitigate the adverse impact of Climate driven disasters. Kalra emphasised that the sooner, we proactively address this issue, the better would it be, and further we as individuals take ownership for our behaviours and decisions by adopting conservation of water, improving the air quality, by preferring public transport, reducing air conditioning and also adopting techniques for agriculture that save water. Kalra advised that rather than waiting for the governmental action on these strategies, we as individuals should stretch and take personal ownership for ushering change to ensure that we bequeath a planet that our future generations would be proud of. Kamal Wadhera, President LMA echoed Kalra’s concern , pointing out that the very fact the seminar was held on a day of unusual rains leading to loss of lives and crops in the region. He elucidated the Climate Conservation Agenda for society to be less energy consumption per capital, industry taking personal responsibility for climate conservation and also thinking out of the box solutions to this vexatious problem. LMA Members Dr. Mrs. Paramjit Kaur, General Secretary, APS Mann and D.R. Bhatti felicitated Mr. Krishan Kalra. Dr. Sandeep Kapoor , Sr. Vice President LMA while proposing a Vote of Thanks appreciated the evangelistic zeal with which Mr. Krishan Kalra was not only propagating to the individuals, the cause of Conservation but also motivating the corporate for affirmative action.
