CME on Research Methodology in Dermatology Organised at DMC&H
The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists & Leprologists (IADVL), successfully hosted a one-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme titled “Research Methodology Made Easy II: Translating Clinical Experience into Evidence” at Dumra Auditorium, DMC&H.

Ludhiana, June 9, 2025: The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists & Leprologists (IADVL), successfully hosted a one-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme titled “Research Methodology Made Easy II: Translating Clinical Experience into Evidence” at Dumra Auditorium, DMC&H.
This academic event was organised under the joint efforts of the IADVL Executive Committee, IADVL Academy, IADVL Punjab, Chandigarh & Himachal Pradesh State Branch, and the Special Interest Group – Dermatology Clinical Research (SIG-DCR). The CME saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 faculty members, postgraduates, and delegates from Punjab, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh.
The CME was inaugurated by dignitaries including Bipin Gupta, Hon. Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society; Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society; Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics; Dr. Manoj Sobti, Member, Punjab Medical Council; and Dr. Sukhjot Kaur, Professor & Head, Department of Dermatology, DMC&H.
The CME coordinators were Dr. Sukhjot Kaur (President, IADVL Pb, Chd & HP State Branch; Professor & Head, Department of Dermatology, DMC&H), Dr. Jaspriya Sandhu (State Secretary; Associate Professor, Department of Dermatology, DMC&H), Dr. Navneet Kaur (Joint Secretary; Assistant Professor, Department of Dermatology, DMC&H), and Dr. Rajwinder Singh (Convener, SIG-DCR), who worked tirelessly to ensure the event’s success.
The academic programme witnessed the presence of several esteemed Heads of Departments such as Dr. Tejinder Kaur (GMC Amritsar), Dr Vikram Mahajan (GMC Hamirpur), Dr Sumir Kumar (GMC Faridkot) and Dr. K.S. Mehta (GMC Tanda). Eminent dermatologist Dr. Davinder Parsad from PGIMER, Chandigarh, delivered an impactful talk titled “Learning from No”, where he addressed the common challenge of manuscript rejection and guided young researchers on how to turn rejections into improved publications. Another highlight of the day was the keynote address by Dr. Feroze Kalidyan, Professor & Head, Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences, Kerala, and Coordinator, SIG-DCR, who elaborated on the role of clinical photography and artificial intelligence in dermatology research. Dr. Mala Bhalla, Professor at GMCH Chandigarh, enlightened participants on the various research grants and national/international scholarships available for young dermatologists, encouraging them to seek academic growth through funded opportunities.
The sessions by the esteemed speakers focused on practical aspects of research initiation, including framing a research question and designing a study protocol, offering attendees foundational tools to begin their research journeys. The event concluded with an engaging Postgraduate Quiz on Dermatology Research, which saw active participation from dermatology residents representing eight medical colleges across Chandigarh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. The quiz was conducted by quiz master Dr. Jaspriya Sandhu and the session witnessed spirited competition.
The event reflected DMC&H’s commitment to academic excellence and its institutional vision of promoting high-quality patient care through research and innovation. The Department of Dermatology expressed sincere gratitude to the Management, Principal, Medical Superintendents, and Dean Academics for their unwavering support.
The CME provided a valuable platform to promote research culture among young dermatologists and guided them on translating clinical experience into evidence, aligning closely with the college’s ethos of fostering excellence through research.
