Ludhiana, August 21, 2022: A high level scientific CME cum workshop on the subjects of Urogynaecology and Urodynaemics was held at Aykai Hospital Ludhiana in collaboration with Indian Menopausal Society and Chandigarh Region Menopause Society.

The Scientific Workshop was attended by a galaxy of Urologists and Gynaecologists from Punjab, Chandigarh , Delhi ,Jammu & Himachal Pradesh. This was inaugurated by special guests renowned Punjabi Actress/ Director/ Producer Priti Sapru and Sarvjit Kaur Manuke MLA AAP.Chief urologist and transplant surgeon Dr BS Aulakh organising Chairman of the CME cum workshop while speaking in his inaugural address emphasised upon the importance of ' Raising Awareness on Organ Donation' in the country.

Dr. Aulakh said that lakhs of patients in the country are in need of organ donation today but we are able to meet the needs of very less, such is the dire need to create awareness about the necessity of organ donation in the country as one brain dead person can save 8 lives. .

While speaking on the occasion chairman Dr BS Aulakh said that  the pillar of strength for every family is a Woman. It is no secret that the essence of caring comes from her. However, when it comes to her own fitness , health, , it is of least priority and they suffer in silence— especially urogynae problems like leakage of urine, , fistula etc ,pelvic floor dysfunction such as urinary orfecal incontinence and prolapse (bulging or falling) of the vagina, bladder and/or the uterus. . On average, 11% of women will undergo surgery for this condition ( prolapse). . Urinary incontinence (leakage of urine) is a very common condition affecting at least 10-20% of women under age 65 and up to 56% of women over the age of 65. But this is often neglected which is otherwise treatable condition. So to highlight the urogynae problems, create awareness, manage it, discuss latest and best modalities thevforthcoming CME cum workshop has provided an excellent opportunity for the eminent specialists in the field of Urology and Gynaecology to share their valuable experiences and would further sharpen our skill and knowledge for the welfare of patients in the region.

Special Guest Priti Sapru Actor Director & Producer and Saravjit Kaur Manuke MLA,AAP encouraged the women to come out openly with their problems and discuss these issues with their doctor for timely diagnosis & treatment of such disorders.The conference laid special focus on the subjects of women health and topics like Urinary Incontinence, Uterine Prolapse, Urinary Tract Infections, Bladder & Ureteric Fistulas among other things.
