Bathinda, February 1, 2015: Skill development centers are keys to churn out industry trained professionals so that the fresh college pass outs can get best of the employment opportunities, said the Chief Minister Punjab Parkash Singh Badal while presiding over global summit on industry-academic interface held at Baba Farid Group of Institutes.

Appreciating the efforts of Baba Farid Group for not only uplifting standard of education but also helping to provide skilled manpower giving fillip to industrial growth in Punjab, Badal said that industry and academy are complementary to each other as industry provides resources for the sustenance of academic institutions where as academia provides the brains and the brawn to run industries. The common goal of both industry and academia is sustainable development, he said.

He added that in line with National Skill Development Policy, Punjab has set up an empowered State Skill Development Mission to bring synergy, scale and effective oversight in implementation of various skill development initiatives in the state such as the one coming up at BFGI.

The state government will be setting up more than 2500 skill development centres in state in association with private sector with a target of imparting skill training to one lakh youth annually. These centers will be set up over a period of next 5 years, each of them covering about 4-5 villages.

Later answering a media query on Delhi assembly elections he said that Delhi was the capital of country and a capital is always a showpiece for the world to see. He added that the SAD-BJP was keenly contesting these elections and having a government in Delhi in sync with the center would ensure its all around development.

Earlier he laid foundation stone of the skill development center coming up at the BFGI.  Prominent among others accompanying him included DIG Amar Singh Chahal, Deputy Commissioner Dr Basant Garg, SSP Inder Mohan Singh Bhatti, ADC (development) Varinder Kumar Sharma, DDPO Rajinder Batra, chairman Central Cooperative Bank Muktsar Tejinder Singh Middukhera, managing director Baba Farid Group of Institutes Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal and others.
