The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Chandigarh organized an informative session with Praveer Ranjan, Director General of Police, Chandigarh UT. Anurag Gupta, Vice Chairman of CII Chandigarh UT, who conducted and moderated the interaction focused on acknowledging the efforts of the Chandigarh Police in taking significant initiatives such as the Police Command & Control Centre to maintain and uphold the law and order of the Chandigarh Tricity. He requested the DGP to share his valuable views and deliberated on the support that CII Chandigarh could provide to the Chandigarh Police to further improve this ecosystem.

Chandigarh, September 15, 2023: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Chandigarh organized an informative session with Praveer Ranjan, Director General of Police, Chandigarh UT. Anurag Gupta, Vice Chairman of CII Chandigarh UT, who conducted and moderated the interaction focused on acknowledging the efforts of the Chandigarh Police in taking significant initiatives such as the Police Command & Control Centre to maintain and uphold the law and order of the Chandigarh Tricity. He requested the DGP to share his valuable views and deliberated on the support that CII Chandigarh could provide to the Chandigarh Police to further improve this ecosystem.

 
In turn, Ranjan discussed a lot of initiatives being already implemented in the Tricity via technology-enabled platforms. He made the members sound with many apps that were being used to make the life of the common man easy. He deliberated on the use of the e-saathi app which provides police assistance & other services like verification services, locked house registration, complaint registration etc. available to the citizens on their smartphones, which provides a major convenience of not visiting the police station.


The DGP said that significant steps were being taken to reduce the gap between the police and the citizens. He also talked about the Integrated Complaint Management System (ICMS) wherein the complaints were being registered without visiting the Police Station. There was an Automatic assigning to concerned units & EO and a Complainant regularly keeps getting feedback on the same.


He also highlighted that in Chandigarh, more than 2,000 cameras were installed at about 285 locations for real-time monitoring of traffic junctions and other important places. Cyber Swachhta Mission being conducted by the Chandigarh Police has been training youth and they are called the cyber soldiers who would help curb the cyber menace.

Anurag Gupta assured the DGP that CII will be actively helping the police and will be providing all the necessary support from the industry by being part of the city surveillance initiative.
