CIS Students perform to create awareness on World Cancer Day

Bangalore: The students of Canadian International School (CIS) performed at Cytecare Cancer Hospitals on the occasion of World Cancer Day. The music program was meant to raise worldwide awareness and help create a world where millions of preventable cancer deaths are saved. After the performance, that included foot-tapping renditions as well as a performance by the CIS group Sweet Basil Jazz Combo, the students also pledged to create greater awareness about cancer. The teachers, students and community members of CIS collectively made the programme a resounding success by sharing their time and talent for the comfort of patients, nurses, and staff.

“The crowd of patients, families, nurses, doctors took a pause during their day, and many, from their condition, to simply enjoy the music. It was amazing to see the faces of patients who, for a moment, forgot about the battle they were in the middle of. One patient, who sat aptly listening throughout, asked to perform at the end and shared a song from her heart for the students and audience members. The power of music!” said Ted Mockrish, Head of School.

“The elementary students who participated were very excited to be asked to come to perform for this noble cause. Many of them put in extra practise time in the days leading up to the performance. I was very glad to see our CIS students giving to the community in such a joyful way.” said by Barbara Thomas (Elementary Music Teacher).
