Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU), met Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, during the Industrial & Professional Meet 2026 organized in Ludhiana on the occasion of 12 Years of Achievements of the Modi Government.
Ludhiana, June 13, 2026: Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU), met Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, during the Industrial & Professional Meet 2026 organized in Ludhiana on the occasion of 12 Years of Achievements of the Modi Government.
During the interactive session, Ahuja appreciated the Government of India for introducing 5 kg FTL LPG cylinders for migrant labourers, calling it a major step towards providing clean and affordable cooking fuel to workers.
However, he pointed out that many migrant workers are unable to avail LPG connections due to the initial cost of around ₹3,000 required for a gas stove, regulator, pipe, and other accessories. He requested the Hon'ble Minister to facilitate easy loan or EMI facilities through Banks, NBFCs, Microfinance Institutions, and Oil Marketing Companies so that workers can obtain LPG connections without financial burden.
Ahuja emphasized that such a facility would improve the living conditions of lakhs of migrant workers and help industries retain skilled manpower.
He also urged the Minister to increase the permissible limit of petrol supplied directly to industries to 200 litres, which would greatly help industrial units in meeting their operational requirements.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahuja said that migrant labourers have played a vital role in the growth of Ludhiana's industrial sector and deserve every possible support. He expressed confidence that the Government would positively consider the suggestions submitted by CICU in the interest of both industry and workers.
The Union Minister patiently heard the concerns and appreciated the constructive suggestions put forward by the industrial fraternity.
