‘Hamare Ram’ Theatrical Performances Begin From Mohali; Punjab Govt to Organise 41 Shows Across State: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann

Mohali (SAS Nagar), August 7, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday joined the audience to witness the inaugural performance of the acclaimed theatrical production ‘Hamare Ram’ in Mohali, featuring renowned actor Ashutosh Rana in a powerful lead performance, marking the beginning of a statewide cultural initiative under which the Punjab Government will organise 41 free performances across 12 cities during August and September. Describing the initiative as an effort to take the timeless teachings of Lord Sri Ram to the people, the Chief Minister said the programme aims to strengthen the values of Sanatan Dharma while spreading the message of truth, righteousness, compassion and unity through the powerful medium of theatre. 
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to preserving Punjab’s rich cultural heritage, the Chief Minister said the performances have been made free of cost so that people from all sections of society can experience and draw inspiration from the life and ideals of Lord Sri Ram.
Addressing a packed auditorium during the inaugural performance, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The Punjab Government is organising 41 performances of the acclaimed production across 12 cities of the state during August and September to promote the rich cultural heritage and traditional values of Punjab.”
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Punjab is a sacred and historic land, and the state government is committed to perpetuating its glorious legacy. The Punjab Government is organising the Hamare Ram show, which beautifully brings to life the timeless teachings and ideals of Lord Sri Ram. A special highlight of this production is the participation of internationally acclaimed actor Ashutosh Rana, whose powerful performance adds immense value to the show.”
Detailing the statewide initiative, he said, “The Punjab Government will organise 41 performances of Hamare Ram during the months of August and September, with the series commencing today from Mohali. These performances will be held across 12 cities of Punjab, namely Mohali, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Patiala, Ludhiana, Sangrur and Khanna. Through this initiative, the state government aims to promote the rich cultural heritage and traditional values of Punjab.”
Emphasising the cultural and spiritual importance of the production, the Chief Minister said, “The state government is committed to taking the timeless message of Sanatan Dharma to the people through the historic epic of the Ramayana. The theatrical production Hamare Ram has received widespread appreciation at both the national and international level, particularly from the younger generation. The show presents the Ramayana from unique and unexplored perspectives, offering audiences a fresh and enriching experience.”
Underscoring the objective of the programme, he said, “The main objective is to inspire the younger generation by promoting India’s spiritual, cultural and moral heritage while showcasing world-class theatrical excellence. I hope this unique initiative will help reinforce the values of Sanatan Dharma and strengthen the message of truth, righteousness, compassion and unity in society. The show serves as one of the most effective mediums to communicate Lord Sri Ram’s ideals of truth, dharma, compassion and harmony to the people.”
Speaking about the relevance of Lord Sri Ram’s teachings in the present times, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “In today’s world, where love, mutual respect and social harmony are increasingly under strain, the teachings of Lord Sri Ram continue to serve as a guiding light for humanity. This initiative provides an opportunity to further strengthen social cohesion and communal harmony. The programme will not only highlight our religious and cultural values but will also inspire young people through the powerful medium of theatre and performing arts.”
“Our government is making every effort to ensure that such programmes bring the teachings of Sanatan Dharma closer to the people while motivating the younger generation to embrace these timeless values,” he added.
Referring to similar cultural initiatives of the government, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Earlier, our government also organised Ek Shaam Shiv Ke Naam across all districts of the state, which received an overwhelming response from the public. The Government is also organising programmes dedicated to the 650th Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj, reflecting its commitment to honouring the spiritual heritage of all communities.” He also prayed for lasting peace, communal harmony, unity, progress and prosperity for the people of Punjab.
Welcoming the artists, he noted, “I warmly welcome the entire team of 150 artists to the sacred and glorious land of Punjab. It is heartening that people from all faiths are participating together in this event, reflecting the spirit of unity and harmony. The coming generations must remain connected to and aware of our rich cultural and spiritual heritage.”
Reiterating the government’s commitment to cultural preservation, the Chief Minister said, “The Punjab Government has enhanced the budget for the promotion of culture, reaffirming its commitment to preserving and nurturing our glorious legacy. Punjabis have made their mark across the world, and it is our collective responsibility to preserve, promote and celebrate our rich heritage. Every effort will be made to ensure that future generations are made aware of our rich heritage.”
Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond also addressed the gathering on the occasion.

Hamare Ram is a large-scale theatrical production based on the timeless epic Ramayana, presenting the life and ideals of Lord Sri Ram through a contemporary theatrical interpretation while remaining rooted in the spiritual essence of Valmiki’s Ramayana. Directed by Gaurav Bhardwaj and produced by Felicity Theatre, the production features renowned actor Ashutosh Rana in the role of Ravan alongside a distinguished ensemble cast. The play blends powerful storytelling with grand stagecraft, elaborate sets, immersive LED visuals, original music, choreography, traditional costumes and special effects to create a spiritually uplifting theatrical experience. Since its premiere in 2024, Hamare Ram has been staged hundreds of times across India and internationally, earning widespread appreciation for presenting lesser-known perspectives from the Ramayana while reinforcing the timeless values of truth, dharma, compassion and righteousness.
