Chandigarh, September 11, 2023: Chandigarh University has launched ‘CU for Life’ project with Rotary and Blood Bank Society Resource Centre here today.

Fiftythree students from the university donated blood to kick off the project.

Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Satnam Singh Sandhu, commended the spirit of the youngsters in participating in the noble cause and said that the University would be organizing regular camps at the campus to encourage its faculty and students to become a part of this noble cause of saving lives.

Past Rotary International President Rajendra K. Saboo, who is also the President of the Governing Council of the Blood Resource Centre, honoured the Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu on this occasion, and commended him for leading the youth of today on to the right path of giving and serving selflessly.

Dr. Manish Rai, Director of the Blood Resource Centre said that blood donation is a critical aspect of healthcare that saves countless lives every day.

The blood bank also has the latest state-of-the-art facilities for supplying whole blood, blood components and platelets, he said.

"Voluntary blood donation not only serves as a lifeline for those in need but also teaches our zyouth the value of selflessness and community service."

By organizing regular camps at the campus, the awareness about blood donation shall increase which is our objective, Chancellor of CU, Satnam Singyh Sandhu, added.

Rotary and Blood Bank Society Resource Centre is a stand alone blood bank which is a joint initiative of Rotary Club of Chandigarh and the Blood Bank Society.

Those present on the occasion included Rotarians of various clubs in the tricity, including that of Kharar, past district governors Madhukar Malhotra and Manmohan Singh, Blood Bank Society's secretary Nitti Sarin, and members,  faculty of Chandigarh University, amongst others.
