CGC students win B-Plan Championship at IIM Indore for their idea of portable cattle feed making machine 

Bringing laurels to the institution, team Unnati comprising three students of CBSA, CGC Landran emerged winners of the 9th International B-Plan Championship held at IIM, Indore. Satinder, Yogesh Kapila and Manpreet Singh, pursuing MBA, 2nd year, were felicitated with cash prize of Rs 25,000, the winner’s trophy and certificates. 

Their innovation, a portable machine will help farmers manufacture feed for cattle or poultry stock using raw material available at their disposal. The contraption’s key advantages that will benefit the agrarian users include its cost effectiveness, customization for manufacturing nutritious feed for either cattle or poultry and the freedom to decide the quantity as per their requirement.  35 teams were shortlisted for the competition of which 16 teams qualified to compete in the final round held at IIM Indore. The participants had to pitch their B-plans through detailed presentations followed by question and answer sessions with the judging panel. They were adjudged on the basis of the plan’s market feasibility, cost benefits, return on investment and sustainability.  

Satinder, one of the three students of team Unnati said that the idea for this creation came from his discussions with his grandfather where the elderly gentleman highlighted the exponential rise in cost of cattle feed in the contemporary times without any proportional rise or enhancement in its nutrition quotient. Hailing from a family of agriculturists who have been farming since almost a century, Satinder and his friends then brainstormed to come up with an invention which would help provide the farmers an easy alternative to manufacturing quality feed in a cost effective manner. Expressing their elation upon winning the competition, the students expressed their gratitude to their mentor Prof. Dr. Deepika Kaur and CGC Landran for their mentorship and support at every step of the way. Their idea is now being incubated by the ACIC RISE Association at CGC Landran for further development.
