Central University of Punjab Organizes Expert Talk on Start-ups & Innovation to Mark National Start-up Day
The E-YUVA Centre of the Central University of Punjab, under the patronage of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, and in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and CUPRDF, organized an expert talk to commemorate National Start-up Day at the University campus.
Bathinda, January 21, 2026: The E-YUVA Centre of the Central University of Punjab, under the patronage of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, and in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and CUPRDF, organized an expert talk to commemorate National Start-up Day at the University campus.
The invited speaker for the programme was Karuna Kanwar, Chief Executive Officer, Technology Business Incubator Foundation, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, who delivered a special lecture on start-ups and innovation.
The inaugural session began with a formal welcome of the chief guest by Prof. Vinod Pathania, who highlighted that the programme was organized to nurture entrepreneurial thinking among students and to encourage them to translate innovative ideas into successful ventures.
While addressing the participants, Ms. Karuna Kanwar shared her entrepreneurial journey and motivated students to pursue innovation-led careers. She discussed real-life startup success stories such as Blinkit, Zomato, and Domino’s, along with several campus-based student innovation ideas that evolved into successful enterprises. Emphasizing the importance of perseverance, mentorship, and strategic guidance, she elaborated on how campus innovations can be effectively transformed into start-ups.
The lecture also highlighted the significance of government initiatives, incubation centres, and institutional support systems in strengthening the start-up ecosystem in India. The session provided valuable insights into funding opportunities, incubation support, and the critical role of academic institutions in fostering entrepreneurship.
On the occasion, Prof. Anjana Munshi, Director, R&D Cell, mentioned that the programme aimed to inspire students and young researchers to explore entrepreneurship and innovation-driven career pathways. She encouraged students to actively engage in research, innovation, and start-up planning through institutional platforms such as CUPRDF, Idea Lab, and the E-YUVA Centre.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Monisha Dhiman, Director, IQAC, who acknowledged the chief guest, organizers, and participants for their contributions, and remarked that such initiatives play a crucial role in cultivating an innovation-driven and entrepreneurial ecosystem within the University.
